General Information

You are a Tourist wishing to come in Democratic Republic of the Congo, Please find on this page all necessary information to apply for a visa. We strongly advise you to choose one the following options:

1.      First identify if there is a diplomatic mission of D.R. of the Congo in your home country. If not, look to neighboring countries. If you are from Europe, it will be very easy than someone from South America and Asia.

If there is one, please go there and ask for all necessary information you will need for a successful application.

2.      If you can’t have a D.R. of the Congo diplomatic mission around you and you are planning for a visit in Goma or Bukavu for either Gorilla treck or Nyiragongo climbing, here is an easy way to apply for a visa. You will be requested to book for one activity provided by Virunga National Park following the link below. This Visa can be extended if you wish to stay more than two weeks and visit other provinces of D.R. of the Congo.

3.      If you are not in one of the stated cases above, you’re advised to go to the next slide where you will find required documents and where to post them.

Note : To travel to Democratic Republic of the Congo a Visa is a MUST and you're not advised to present on border without it.

DRC Tourist visa requirement

Requirement for Tourist VISA (You are strongly advised to contact D.R.Congo embassy near you for complementary information):

A valid passport and tourist visa are required to visit the Democratic Republic of Congo.

 

1.      You must have an original signed passport valid at least for six (6) months and one blank page available for visa stamp. Note that amendment pages on the back of the visa are not suitable for visa stamps.

2.      After placing your order, you will have to fill two original DR Congo Visa application form included in your visa application kit.

3.      Two recent identical and colored 2x2 passport photographs: front view with a plain or light background. OR you can upload a photo when you place your order, instead of providing physical passport photos.

4.      Notarized letter of invitation from host in Democratic Republic of Congo explaining the relationship to the applicant and the purpose of travel. In addition, the letter must indicate the length of stay, place of stay, and contact information.

 

5.      Computer generated flight itinerary from the airline or a travel agency or copy of airline ticket showing entry and departure from Democratic Republic of the Congo.

 

6.      Applicants Under the Age of 18: Copy of birth certificate. 
Applicants under age 18 who are not traveling with both parents and legal guardian must provide a notarized letter of consent signed by the non-accompanying parent(s) or guardian authorizing the consulate to issue a visa to the minor.

 

7.      International certificate of vaccination against yellow fever.

 

8.      Evidence of sufficient funds to support stay in Democratic Republic of Congo; most recent bank statement, and proof of employment such as a letter of from the employer.

 

9.      Special Instructions: The Democratic Republic of the Congo, or D.R. Congo, is also commonly referred to as Congo-Kinshasa. This country should not be confused with the Congo Republic, which is a neighboring country.

10.  Visa validity is based on consular fees paid. First entry must always be within 90 days of the issue date of the visa.

12.  Register your trip with the US Embassy:

 

The US State Department strongly encourages American citizens planning international travel to register with the US Embassy(s) in the countries they plan to visit. Registration notifies the US Embassy in each country of your travel plans and enrolls you in the State Department travel advisory and warnings program. Feel more secure about your international travels by having Travisa register your trip with the US Department of State; simply complete the form on your visa application kit after placing your order.

 

13.  Non-refundable tickets or reservations should not be purchased until all visas and passports are secured and in your possession.
